Whole Wheat Banana Bread

1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil

1/2 cup brown sugar

1/3 cup applesauce

4 bananas, peeled and mashed

1 tsp baking soda

1 tsp ground cinnamon

1 tsp salt

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 1/2 cup whole wheat flour

*Option to add nuts or chocolate chips based on desired taste


  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Use about 2 tablespoons of the extra virgin olive oil to grease your loaf pan.

  2. In a large bowl mix the remaining olive oil with the brown sugar.

  3. Add the applesauce and mashed bananas to the mixture and mix well.

  4. Stir in the baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and vanilla.

  5. Stir in the whole wheat flour until it is mixed and no dry spots.

  6. Add any optional nuts or chocolate and mix into batter.

  7. Pour the batter into loaf pan and bake for 50-60 minutes, or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.

  8. Allow to cool for 10 minutes.

  9. Enjoy!
